#319 Lower Extremity Casting for the Pediatric Population

Spasticity and contractures are common clinical problems, contributing to functional limitations in the pediatric population with CNS dysfunction or peripheral nerve injuries. Casting, splinting, and/ or orthotic follow up are often effective in reversing contracture and influencing abnormal tone in patients with neurological muscular disorders. New treatment techniques for the management of spasticity are now available, but maximizing treatment effectiveness requires a thorough understanding of how, when, and for whom to use these interventions. This hands-on workshop will give participants the opportunities to problem solve with the most effective treatment strategies for assessing and managing spasticity and contractures. Participants will have hands-on practice with casting.
