#7342 Childhood Apraxia of Speech
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to childhood apraxia of speech highlighting symptomatology, provide evidence-based therapeutic strategies, and increase the learner’s overall understanding of CAS. Using a collaborative approach, speech therapy practitioners will be provided with a basic framework of Childhood Apraxia of Speech and will be instructed how to apply strategies based on their integration of this framework, and establish markers to differentiate CAS from other Speech Sound Disorders. The presentation will utilize a case-based approach to demonstrate and summarize application of material. Presenter will engage audience participation for an interactive learning experience.
The focus is on increased understanding of identification of CAS and application of therapeutic interventions to increase motor planning during speech production. Participants should be able to take away 3 markers to differentiate CAS in their caseload and strategies to implement the next day in therapy. (Introductory Level)
