Under TBC 3.0 symptom modulation, sub-classification, we have active rest, traction, specific exercise, and OMPT & exercise. Can anyone clarify that it changed from rarely used in a specific population to no longer recommended to be used due to conflicting evidence as of the 2021 CPG update? Or do we still use it in the rare cases defined? I no longer use it in practice, but wondering specifically for the exam.

Traction is used only for specific subclassifications of patients that peripheralize in opposite directions. For example, a patient that peripheralizes with lumbar flexion AND lumbar extension. So, rarely used.
When used, it is used with the patient in prone with a progressively more extended (prone prop) position and used in conjunction with extension oriented exercises (even though extension peripheralizes symptoms).
Hope this helps.
