# 212 Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation

 

This course will focus on the rehabilitation process of the person with spinal cord injury. The participates will learn concepts of spinal cord injury management, in order to become effective members of the spinal cord injury rehabilitation team to facilitate the patient’s return to a lifestyle that is healthy, fulfilling and as independent as possible.
 

Attendees will be able to explain the etiology and mechanism of spinal cord injuries and describe complications of spinal cord injury and discuss prevention and intervention strategies. Attendees will be able to list key early intervention techniques and functional progression strategies related to ADL and mobility skill acquisition. Also, identify functional potentials and expectations of each level of SCI and Identify wheeled mobility and seating and positioning needs.

Course instruction methods include lecture, demonstration, videos, case studies and question/answers.
