#322 Treating Pediatric Conditions: Targeted Treatment Strategies for Functional Outcomes
This course aims to integrate current evidence and best clinical practices into a dynamic and interactive seminar, facilitating clinicians in linking treatment strategies with specific impairments. This approach will enable the development of effective treatment plans to enhance function in children with various diagnoses, including cerebral palsy (CP), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), coordination disorders, and developmental delays.
The extensive and often overwhelming body of literature can pose challenges for clinicians in accessing, comprehending, and applying relevant information to their patients. This course bridges the gap between assessment and treatment planning. Through functional task analysis of video case studies, participants will learn to identify and address impairments impacting a child's ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), gross motor (GM) skills, and fine motor (FM) skills. The use of movable surfaces will enhance treatment strategies. The course will employ a combination of didactic lectures, video patient examples, hands-on laboratory experiences, and small group problem-solving sessions to effectively integrate the presented information.
Participant recommendations: This course will require active participation in labs, as a therapist and as a “client.” Please be aware of your own physical limitations. Loose, comfortable clothing, should be worn. Please bring a ball suitable for you sit on at approximately 90/90 (55-65cm).
