#7110 Medical Screening For Physical Therapy...information for direct access practice
The instructional focus is on developing advanced clinical reasoning skills related to determining a client’s appropriate-ness for therapy. Medical screening procedures, laboratory, and diagnostic procedures to identify non-musculoskeletal pathology/disease will be reviewed. The course format will include lecture, videos, and case examples; and a post-course (online) multiple choice examination. The clinician will learn the skills and techniques used in a physical examination with the intent to screen for diseases that fall outside the scope of practice. The clinician will be able to identify the need for referral to another health care practitioner based on the existence of “red flags” and the clustering on signs and symptoms.
