#7192 Role of PT & OT in Management of Vascular Disease

 

The purpose of this course is to review peripheral Vascular disease, starting with basic pathophysiology, different forms of vascular disease, progression of disease and effects on human body, ultimately causing deterioration in functional status. Role of Physical therapy and Occupational Therapy in conservative management by risk factor modification, individualized exercise program to manage the disease and improve functional status. The presentation will also discuss surgical options- revascularization procedures and amputations, followed by post-surgical PT& OT management. 

 

The course will focus on more advanced skills like differentiating venous vs arterial disease, in depth understanding of risk factors leading to disease and modifications, conservative treatment strategies to reverse or modify the disease process. Initial phase of recovery and role of PT and OT in post-surgical patients

 

Participants should have a general familiarity with topic- vascular anatomy, atherosclerosis, lower extremity claudication pain, amputations. Intermediate level
